    Doll, Me, & LiberTea

    1:00-4:00

    Bring your favorite doll and gather around our table on the lawn. Costumed interpreters will serve tea and a selection of sweet and savory treats, inspired by the 18th century.

    After tea, play lawn games and sip refreshing lemonade. Complete the scavenger hunt and receive a gift bag for you and your doll!

    Tickets required for each guest. Tickets on sale February 1 on Eventbrite, $20.00 each.

    Summer Reading Club

    Students are invited to join us as we read through Magic Tree House #22: Revolutionary War on Wednesday. Each week there will be a read aloud and craft related to the reading. Recommended ages 7-10 years.

  • 243rd Anniversary Battle Reenactment

    10:00-4:00

    The annual battle reenactment of the Tory and Whig skirmish at House in the Horseshoe. This one day event will highlight the struggles of the backcountry as the Revolutionary War engulfed North Carolina.

    Battle will take place at 2:00. Saturday only. Activities and 18th Century demonstrations throughout the day. Parking $5.00.

  • Mourning A Governor

    Gov. Benjamin Williams died at Retreat in 1814. Explore the customs and symbolism from the early 19th Century that would have followed after his death.

    Guided tours, $2.00 each.

  • Homeschool Day

    Learn more about the 18th century during Homeschool Day! A variety of 18th century displays and demonstrations will be featured. Come out and experience an immersive learning environment.

  • "O blessed Season!" Candlelight Tours

    3:00-6:30

    Step back in time and experience an 18th century Christmas. Interpreters will portray members of the community who have gathered for a festive party during the holiday season among fresh greenery and candlelight.

    Limited tickets available.
